Houy Strong ~ Come on Guy!
On Friday November 3rd, Gary Houy went to Mercy Hospital after having stomach issues for about 3 weeks thinking he may have an issue with his gallbladder. Unfortunately they saw what looked like a mass and sent him to Iowa city for a better diagnosis. He was admitted for additional tests and pain control. The doctors in Iowa city did confirm a mass and also spots on his lungs. He had a biopsy on November 6th . The biopsy has confirmed that it is cancer and has spread to his lungs. Further testing on the biopsy is needed to determine type and treatment options, but he has been told that surgery is not an option. Unfortunately Gary has no health insurance at this time. Gary is a great guy and always willing to lend a hand to anyone that needs it. Let’s get together and lend him a hand.
UPDATE from Tom Benson:
What can I say? Words can’t even begin to express how amazing it was to see everyone’s generosity at the benefit. Seeing everyone come together for a such a great cause. None of this could have happened without everyone that volunteered, donated and attended.
Although Gary couldn’t attend he enjoyed all of the pics, videos and stories that we shared with him about his special night and was truly humbled by everyone’s generosity.
As I’m sure most of you have heard, we lost Gary at 10:15 pm Sunday December night but knowing that he is no longer in pain helps ease some of the pain of this huge loss in everyone’s life.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you to everyone that helped make this event such a great success.
We were so pleased to be part of the fundraiser – our hearts and deepest condolences go out to all how knew Gary – this was a note Tom Benson wrote us personally: Dear Kenda & AnnaRose I can’t even begin to express my love and gratitude for what you did yesterday. Thank you and thanks again for being part of his special day.
NEVER FORGET YESTERDAY, BUT ALWAYS LIVE FOR TODAY, BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT TOMORROW CAN BRING, OR WHAT IT CAN TAKE AWAY.
